I feel thoroughly vindicated in our selection of overhead radiant heating (as opposed to under-pew convectors) and the configuring of our three Halo units as independently controllable units. Because the Halos are mounted high, there is negligible shadowing from the pew sides.<\/p>\n
The Halos themselves take 10-15 minutes to reach temperature and provide the full radiant output. Running them at maximum 20 minutes before a service takes the chill off soft furnishings (such as pew seat cushions); I then turn them down according to the prevailing ambient temperature. With each Halo having three heat settings (1, 2, or 3\/3), I started out with a simple rule-of-thumb based on some prior thermal modelling: 14-21C: 1; 7-14C: 2; 0-7C: 3).<\/p>\n
At the end of a service I can turn off two units, leaving on the Halo that\u2019s over the refreshment table.
