Background

All Saints’ Church, in Stone, contacted Herschel Infrared to discuss their requirements for a new heating solution for the beautiful interior of this historic building. After the previous heating system had failed, the Church had experienced two years with no heating over the winter period.

They were keen to make sure that the new heating system was both effective and cost-efficient. A convection-based under pew heating system was ruled out. It was also important to make sure that it could be installed quickly, was highly controllable and also met the objective of reducing carbon emissions in the transition to net zero.

Solution

Detailed discussions with our Heritage Team took place, alongside a survey of the church to confirm measurements and any mounting restrictions or considerations. Subsequently, three 9.6kW Halos were specified and installed. The three Halos are suspended centrally to warm the congregation.

The Church team chose a black finish for the Halo design, with no additional decoration. The black finish was chosen to fit with the aesthetic of the dark beams throughout the interior.
