How Does InfraSense™ Work?
InfraSense™ combines advanced sensing with intelligent automation to deliver consistent, comfortable warmth throughout your studio. Unlike other heating systems which rely on one or two air thermostats, InfraSense™ measures the air and radiant temperatures to calculate the ‘feels like’ temperature of each area of the space.
This allows the heaters to respond to the true level of warmth in the room, including the natural rise in temperature during busy classes, and gently adjust heater power to keep consistent comfort. Each area of the studio can be treated as its own zone, with InfraSense™ automatically maintaining the set target temperature without under or overheating certain areas.
Convenient Touch-Screen and App Control
InfraSense™ sensors are discreetly placed in the studio to ensure a balanced temperature throughout the space, meaning no air thermostats are required. Instead, we provide a simple-to-use touch-screen tablet which can be mounted onto a wall or mobile for convenient control of your heaters. InfraSense™ can also be operated via an App or web browser for full flexibility, and a passcode can be used to prevent unauthorised changes.
Motion Detection
InfraSense™ includes customisable presence detection that scans for movement and automatically enables or disables heating of the space as needed. This ensures only occupied areas are heated, preventing energy being wasted on empty rooms. When someone enters the space, the heaters detect this and adjust their settings to maintain the desired comfort level.
Designed for Long-Term Performance
InfraSense™ systems can be supported remotely by Herschel’s control experts from its UK-based production facility. The control system is designed to be future-proof, with developments including energy use monitoring, humidity measurement, CO₂ detection, and integration with time-of-use electricity tariffs and solar. This ensures your heating system can continue to evolve and remain efficient over time, with expert support always available when needed.

Yes. InfraSense™ incorporates a simple to use touch screen control tablet ensuring users can easily control the heaters in the studio. The touch screen enables InfraSense™’s intelligent automatic mode, allowing the heaters to automatically adjust power levels to keep the temperature consistent in each area of the space. This feature allows you to avoid having to manually monitor and adjust power levels throughout sessions. If you did want to manually control the heaters, then the touch screen control tablet can be used to easily choose your zone, then select the desired temperature. Temperature Reading
InfraSense™ scans the heated zone every second and is constantly measuring the radiant temperature. As infrared heats people and objects directly, this offers a much more accurate and efficient way of measuring comfort levels as opposed to measuring air temperature. The radiant temperature is also a more accurate reflection of how warm people are.
Automatic Heating
InfraSense™ allows you to ensure every single occupied area in a building is being gently warmed to the same level. If one particular area of the building is typically cooler than others (e.g., if it is by a door or window), the InfraSense™ system will be able to detect this and adjust its power levels accordingly. Contrastingly if an area takes less time to warm up, the InfraSense™ will detect this and lower (or turn off) its power levels where needed. These automatic adjustments not only maintain a consistent level of comfort throughout the building, but also ensure no areas are being under or overheated, resulting in the heaters running the most efficient way possible.
