Electrify Your Heating
Switch to electric heating with infrared and add less CO2 to the environment
Make the Switch to Electric Heating?
The opportunity to move away from fossil fuels, confront climate change and meet net zero targets is within our reach. Electrifying your heating is the quickest, most significant part of decarbonising your household.
Smartest route to net zero
Infrared offers choice on how to install your heating system; you can choose to install throughout your entire property, or go room by room and install in stages if preferred, whatever works best. This allows you to gradually transition away from fossil fuels, unlike heat pumps which require a complete replacement of your existing heating system.
IR is a decentralised system
IR is a decentralised system that allows you to heat only the room you are in, when you are in it. It is “heat on demand”. You don’t have to have the whole system running 24×7 and you don't need to heat the entire house…… and that’s how you’ll save energy.
The full net zero package
We also offer a choice of hot water heating solutions that are highly innovative and cost effective. IR and our hot water solutions work perfectly with solar, battery and time of use tariffs.

From 2030, running electric heating should be 100% CO2 free
The UK Government has committed to decarbonising the electricity grid by 2030. This will mean that running an electric heating system should be 100% CO2 free.
Signing up to a renewable energy tariff will also achieve zero operational carbon NOW.
You should also consider the Environmental Impact from manufacturing a heating system
Up to 3 x less Embodied Carbon with Infrared
We carried out a carbon footprint focused Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of our Comfort infrared heating panels.
Our results show that it takes up to 3 x less Carbon Dioxide to manufacture our Comfort panels than a comparable heat pump system.
Higher levels of embodied carbon will directly contribute to climate change so it’s important to choose a system with lower levels of embodied carbon.

Our customers are leading the way.......
The home of the future is within easy reach.
Our customers combine electric infrared with solar, battery storage, time of use tariffs, smart controls and, if possible, improved insulation. This combination minimises energy bills.
Infrared is a practical and smart route to electrifying your heating. Power with a renewable energy source or tariff to lower your carbon footprint and achieve net zero.
Combine Herschel Infrared with Time of Use Tariffs to Minimise Bills

Unlike heat pump systems, infrared doesn’t need to run 24/7.
Did you know that electricity prices only peak between 4pm and 7pm? Time of Use tariffs, such as Octopus Agile, reflect supply and demand and the price of electricity changes every 30 minutes. It is likely most tariffs will operate this way in the future.
Infrared can be used to heat the thermal mass of your home before the peak demand period of 4pm to 7pm, which should stay warm enough until prices reduce after the peak. This allows you to switch it off during the more expensive peak hours and benefit from cheaper electricity prices.
In addition, infrared enables room by room control, so you only need to heat the rooms you occupy.
“The big realisation was that for the price of putting in a heat pump system, you could have infrared panels plus a complete solar panel and battery system“.
Hear from someone who has done it
Watch Simon’s incredible story of how he turned a run down 1950s bungalow into an energy efficient home using innovative technologies, including infrared heating, solar PV, battery, and a Mixergy water heater. Simon talks through the whole process of achieving high EnerPhit insulation standards and why he decided to choose Herschel Infrared as opposed to a heat pump system.
