Herschel Infrared brings Comfort to a home in BBC’s DIY SOS: The Big Build
Herschel Infrared is proud to have supported another heartwarming transformation on BBC One’s DIY SOS: The Big Build, supplying Comfort infrared panel heaters to help create a warm and welcoming bedroom for 11 year old Nathan in Bewdley, Worcestershire.

The episode, A Home for Nathan, which aired on Tuesday 27 October, sees presenter Nick Knowles and the DIY SOS team take on an extraordinary project to transform the home of Nathan and his family.
Herschel has a longstanding relationship with DIY SOS, having previously supported several projects, including the show’s Children in Need transformation in Blackburn and Big Builds in Southmead, Bristol, and Stoke-on-Trent.

The Bewdley renovation marks another opportunity for the Herschel team to contribute to an amazing transformation project and support the remarkable work of the DIY SOS team and its volunteers.
Nathan lives with complex medical needs and experiences up to 200 seizures a day, requiring round the clock care from his parents, John and Emma. With the family’s home increasingly dominated by the demands of Nathan’s care, the DIY SOS team set out to create a safer, more practical and comfortable living environment that would make a meaningful difference to the whole family.

The project demonstrates the extraordinary results that can be achieved when volunteers, local tradespeople and suppliers come together.

DIY SOS infrared heating
Herschel was delighted to play its part by supplying Comfort infrared panel heaters, providing a modern electric heating solution designed to deliver comfortable radiant warmth while complementing the newly transformed living spaces.
Unlike conventional heating systems that primarily heat the air, Herschel’s infrared technology works by directly warming people and surfaces, creating a natural and comfortable feeling of warmth. With their slimline, unobtrusive design, Comfort panels can be ceiling-mounted to provide an effective heating solution without compromising valuable living space. Given the circumstances of Nathan’s complex care needs, the key objective of the family and the DIY SOS team was to ensure the heaters were kept out of reach of Nathan.
Matt Dodds, Herschel Infrared, commented:
“We’re incredibly proud to have been involved in another DIY SOS project. It’s a fantastic programme, bringing together people and businesses who generously give their time, expertise and products to make a real difference to families. We were delighted to contribute our Comfort infrared heating panels once again to help create a warm and comfortable home for Nathan and his family.”

DIY SOS: A Home for Nathan can be viewed on BBC One or BBC iPlayer (8pm on Tuesday 27 October 2026).
