UK’s First Low Temperature Infrared Heater Test Facility Opens at Swansea University

Official Opening of the UK’s First Infrared Heater Test Facility

We are thrilled to share the exciting news of the official opening of the UK’s first purpose-built Low Temperature Infrared Heater test facility, located at Swansea University. The facility has been built in accordance with the IEC 60675 testing standards for radiant efficiency, aligning with leading infrared test facilities that are already established in the Netherlands and Germany. This milestone represents a significant step forward for the infrared heating industry.

Herschel is proud to have part-funded this infrared heater test facility, which will serve as an invaluable resource for testing and demonstrating the energy efficiency and comfort benefits of infrared.

We see this as a critical development in our efforts to inform government policy makers and bring about long overdue changes to building regulations. Additionally, the facility will provide unique opportunities to carry out academic research into the human physiological responses to infrared heat. The image below shows our UK manufactured infrared Comfort panel heater ceiling-mounted in the purpose-built facility. This independent research is an important step in accelerating the growth of our infrared heating technology.
