   I bought an XLS600 for my en-suite bathroom refurb. The bathroom is tiled, walls and floor. This heater is amazing. Warms up really quickly. Easily connects to the remote Thermostat. The heat is lovely, much different to radiator heat, it just feels better. And the tiled floor is like it’s got underfloor heating! I have noticed as well, with the walls being ceramic tiles, the heat retention is superb. It’s the first time I’ve used IR heater and it won’t be the last. I will be installing in every future room refurbish. The only downside is the ceiling mounting bracket. There is an offset that you have to be aware of. It’s quite easy to get wrong, as I did initially. You can’t just place the panel where you want it and mark it for the fixing holes. You need to work backwards to allow for the double offset locking mounts. If Herschel provided a mounting template to eliminate error, this would be perfect. Also the instruction manual for the remote thermostat was a bit lacking. Didn’t have clear instructions on the event settings. But I eventually figured it out.
   Apart from this, a great product which hopefully will last years to come.

   In the late autumn of 2019 we had already decommissioned our old oil boiler so we could finish knocking down a couple of single storey rooms at the back of our property. We decided to go down the ecologically friendly route and heat the house using electricity.

   We tried a couple of Herschel’s 400W flat panels, mounting them on the ceilings in our small bathroom and a small bedroom used as an office. These were easy to fit and worked really well.

   We were so impressed that a couple of weeks later we bought 6 1100W panels for the lounge, kitchen and master bedroom.

   We’ve now been through two winters and we love these panels. They’re completely silent in use, a real contrast from the shushing, creaking and the occasional clunk we had with the oil boiler and radiators. We live in a quiet village and the silent operation made more of a difference to us than we expected. The dust levels are lower than we had with convection type heating (radiators or electric convection heaters). The rooms feel warm without the air getting too hot. We find it’s a more comfortable warmth than air heating.

   The Herschel team was great. Very helpful. The calculator page on the website is really useful. I’ll be back there soon to figure out the number and size of the panels we’re going to need for our freshly rebuilt rooms.

   Thank you all at Herschel. A great product, really well executed.

   Just a hint for anyone thinking of ceiling mounting the larger flat panels to old (non entirely flat) ceilings. You may need to pack out the mounting bracket from the ceiling (approx 20mm in our case) to give yourself the space you need for the control until on the back of the panel.

   I bought two 600W white panels to augment the current gas fired boiler radiators for our new 8m X 3m lounge extension. The heaters occupy the area next to some large bifold doors.
   This was done with an eye to the future where electrical heating will be more widespread, and also make it possible to heat the room where we congregate without necessarily having to have the central heating on for long stretches, heating other rooms up that we aren’t in.

   I installed them myself, the tradesmen that where doing the work on the building including an electrician had not heard of these products.
   Mentioning infra-red heaters I think they expected to see glowing red bar heaters attached to the ceiling. They were all impressed with the sleek look of the panels and the comfortable heat that they project.

   The heaters are controlled by a WiFi T-MT controller which can be added to the Smartlife ‘phone app to control remotely. Being keen on home automation I found that it is also possible to control the heaters using the Home Assistant platform by employing the ‘tuya’ integration.

   It has been quite a cold winter and the heaters have come into their own. I went on to purchase a further single larger 800W panel, under the control of the same thermostat, to cover the original lounge area where we sit and watch TV. It has been well received by the family.
   Unfortunately the original panel was damaged in transit but was quickly and efficiently replaced without a problem.

   Overall I would highly recommend this heating system, one very small negative, the Hershel brand stickers soon start to peel off the heaters – not a deal breaker though!

   Once the panels brought the house to the requested temperature I forgot we even had them.
   They are silent and the spaces maintain an even temperature without my even knowing.
   No blowers no clicking and basically invisible on the white ceiling.
   We have never been happier or more comfortable.

   I have this installed in a kitchen extension. In doubling the size of my (small) kitchen I was looking for a heating solution as there was no radiator in the kitchen already – I turned to infrared!

   This heater is installed on the ceiling of the extension, at a slight pitch and so facing in to the room to provide a really comfortable warmth. It’s been absolutely fantastic. Hard wired and connected to a smart thermostat I control from the Smart Life app with smart automatic settings. I just leave it to come on if the temperature drops below 19 degrees and turn off above 21 degrees – to maintain a comfortable temperature. The rest of the house is heated by a conventional gas boiler system so this doesn’t do the hard work – just heats up an extra room without radiator effectively. It tends to come on for no more than an hour at a time, maybe 3-4 times a day. In this room there is a large window and door to the back garden (both double glazed) – so that includes the fact the door can open and close at regular times through the day. My energy costs have not changed AT ALL. I presume that’s through having a better insulated external wall/window/door with the new extension which has stopped heat escaping as it must have done previously, but it goes to show that this is not expensive to run. When I say my energy costs haven’t increased, bear in mind this also includes being at home a lot more with other electronic devices being used. So I’m really impressed, I haven’t done any scientific calculations but the efficiency must mean the cost of the heater is paying for itself at a good pace. Final point – it’s a really nice heat too. Weird to understand but trust me!

   My parents recommended Herschel Infrared after their own very postive exeperience. I have a white Select XLS panel in my study which has been excellent while working from home, it means I don’t have to heat the rest of the house during the day, it’s a really comfortable heat too. I also have a Miami heater on a stand to heat my decked area outside under a pergola. This has been brilliant, it means we can still socialise out in the garden late into the evening while keeping nice and warm. Excellent communication and customer service from the friendly staff, highly recommend.

   The panel looks good, it’s subtle when fitted to the ceiling, being white against the white ceiling, so you don’t know it’s there, however on the very few mornings or evenings where it’s been a bit chilly, then it does give a nice comfortable warmth. I sometimes forget we have it, and then I walk into the bathroom in the morning, and it feels nice and cosy. The thermostat was nice and easy to set up and use. Since March, when I received it and we had it fitted by my electrician, we have had phenomenally warm weather and there have been only a few mornings or evenings when it has been cold enough for it to turn on, but with what I have experienced, I am more than happy to recommend and buy another. It feels strange to say this, but I am looking forward to colder days when we will notice the warmth in the bathroom more! I hate a cold bathroom!

   I am very pleased with my new Herschel infrared heaters. I was looking to replace my obsolete storage heaters, and infrared heaters were recommended to me by friends. I found the Herschel UK website very clear and helpful, and I was given great advice when I phoned to check a few details. Delivery was very quick and everything arrived well packaged. My electricians found the panels and controllers easy to install. I am particularly pleased with the controllability of this type of heating and the pleasant feeling of the heat, which is like the heat from the sun. Also the panels are very thin and minimal in appearance.

    We’re absolutely delighted with all of our infrared heaters. We started by installing these into our summerhouse and were so impressed by the glorious heat that they give out that we have started fitting them throughout our entire home.

    They’re an ideal solution for our remote property, one that has no vehicle access, and is in a village that does not benefit from gas. So our only solutions were storage heaters or air / ground source heat pumps.

    We are delighted with the Herschel heaters that we’ve installed, they are cost effective, easy to install, and allow us to transform our home on a room-by-room basis as opposed to having to find the huge cost of installing some of the alternative systems.

    They also have the huge added benefit of preventing condensation, reducing damp and generally being vastly better for your health than typical radiator based heating systems.

    We absolutely love them.

    Just put 2 400W heaters on the ceiling of the room above a newly built oak framed garage. They were very easy to install with the supplied brackets, but just take your time to work out where to position the brackets in relation to the final position of the heaters. We placed a 13 amp socket in the loft space to keep everything neat and tidy as you can’t hide the socket or spur behind the units themselves.
    The 2 heaters paired seamlessly with the T-MT mains thermostat to create the perfect solution.
    The heat produced is a gentle warm heat, and even at 16-18 degrees the room feels pleasantly warm.

    I’m a huge fan of the Herschel Infrared radiators which I’ve been putting into my buy-to-let flats in London over the last 8 years. Whenever one of my gas combi-boilers fails, I immediately look to take the system out, take all those wet water radiators out, all those pipes and all that goes, I put in another form of hot water heating and then the Herschel Infrared radiators. By putting it up on the ceiling it does give more wall space. The previous radiators often get bumped or draped with clothes by the tenant which is not great as that obviously causes condensation. In the bathroom it’s doing its job well as there’s absolutely no sign of any mould or condensation which is a frequent problem in bathrooms.

    Once I put one in I’ve been rather keen to put them in everywhere else. Once they are in there is no further cost, I’ve never had a radiator go wrong on me. Very easy, very efficient and very good for the environment. It gives a wonderful radiant heat, it’s a very attractive and pleasant environment to live. I think Herschel and their infrared are definitely the way forward.

    We purchased a 1100w XLS frameless white panel for our lounge, love it. Very different from the normal radiator heating. A much better heat, with no drafts from cold air circulation. Quite tricky to put up on ceiling and have suggested that a click and fit type power set up design would be better suited to the domestic market, would also take out having cable showing. Will be installing this type of heating throughout our home as very impressed with both Herschel products, staff and their customer service.

    Excellent fast delivery, good instructions. Heater was easy to mount on the ceiling.
    It’s performance was just want we wanted to heat ” the cold end of our kitchen”.
    Since buying it, we have dramticly reduced our use of our gas central heating.
    We will be buying more panels for our victorian terrace in the future. The pannels give a much nicer heat source and fit in with our plans to reduce our use of gas and help save the planet

    I bought two 600w XLS panels together with a Herschel T-MT thermostat for my garden/AV room. They were easy to install and paired easily. The only issue I had was getting the app to work, but I got there in the end. I can now control the heating while sat in the house, or from anywhere . The name badges on mine are upside down. I guess some of you may be thinking I’ve hung them the wrong way up, but sadly not. They’re the right way up with the control unit at the bottom. I’ve confirmed this with Kate at Herschel. But it’s only a small gripe and the only reason why I didn’t give 5 stars. They warm the room quicker than I expected, but I will wait to see how well they perform when it’s really cold. Design wise they’re the best I’ve seen And I’ve looked at many different panels. I’d like to thank Jane at Herschel for all her advice. And for her patience with my many phone calls. So if your looking for a heating solution for a garden room or office these may well be the answer.

    We installed an Herschel panel heater 4 weeks ago in a new conservatory and would totally recommend infrared heating in general and Herschel in particular. It arrived swiftly and efficiently and creates a comfortable welcoming ambience. The control system works extremely well. The heater is proving pleasingly economical and looks great- it has been much admired by visitors. Having an ageing boiler, we are considering eventually installing them throughout the house.     I started to plan my home refurbishment in the Summer of 2016. My priorities were comfort and sustainability. The project involved insulating an old, solid stone house, upgrading the glazing, electrics and heating, plus an extension. I visited Andy and was able to see infrared heating panels and solar working together, so decided to go for both.

    Although it’s early days, the heating seems very economical to run. The solar contributes to running cost savings and we also use the spare solar electricity to heat water so my home is future-proofed. The whole house is zoned and controlled with Herschel iQ thermostats so I have the heat I like when and where needed. The house is extremely comfortable, and because of the insulation and infrared panels, we operate the system at only 16-18degC air temperature, but still feel warm.

    We experienced a range of challenges during the project, but the infrared was the simplest system to integrate with the programme, and the support from the Herschel team was exemplary at all times. The Select XL mirror units, and ceiling mounted panels look great and free up lots of wall space, which really helps in some of the rooms. I also like the zero maintenance of infrared, it’s both hi-tech yet very simple to live with. I’d urge anyone undertaking a new-build or refurbishment project to get in touch with Herschel and go for infrared!

    We installed Select XL ceiling mounted heaters in our extension, rather than extend the existing central heating system. This is our third winter with the system and we haven’t looked back. The cost of the system and installation was the lowest of the options we reviewed, and running costs are competitive and affordable. Because the heaters are ceiling mounted, we have more wall space for furniture. We also prefer the gentle warmth of infrared, rather than the CHS which costs more to run, and is generally too warm or not warm enough! Nicola, Co. Antrim

    On the levels of heat/temperatures:
    “Really very good, very satisfied”. “Works a lot better than the old heater & seems to hold the heat better”.

    On the speed of warming up:
    “Heats very quickly, literally in matter of minutes. I can turn it on go & make a cup of tea, & the room will feel warm when I get back”. “Very quickly, its hot in 5 minutes”.

    On the ‘feel’ of the heat:
    “It felt like a warm summer’s day, not like a heater, & was very comfortable”. “Old heaters were more stuffy, this one felt a lot better”. “I can feel the heat all over the room, & it feels like being surrounded by warm water rather than having a heater on”.

    On heat loss:
    “Not a problem”. “The room seemed to stay warm for a long time”.
